Project description

In the heart of Manchester’s knowledge quarter, the Citylabs cluster is home to a community of diagnostics, medtech, digital health and genomics businesses driving the future of healthcare.

Citylabs 2.0 was delivered to shell & core and provides 92,000 sq ft of new build, flexible office and laboratory space (up to CL2). The space was let in full to life sciences and diagnostics firm Qiagen during RIBA WS5 and we subsequently managed the fit-out up to contract stage. We delivered Citylabs 3.0 up to RIBA WS2. We worked closely with project partners to ensure that the new buildings were fit for purpose and flexible enough to accommodate the changes in innovation and facilitate the next chapter of scientific research.

The buildings are located on the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) campus – the UK’s largest NHS Trust.

"Buro Four have supported Bruntwood on a range of our major projects to date, each with a complex stakeholder network and very different requirements. Whether it is a speculative science building, regeneration, refurbishment or residential - Buro Four have understood what we need and what will make a successful project and adapted their teams and approaches to suit. It’s reassuring to have them on board as a partner."
