This August, project managers Tiv Kaur, Matt Keegans-Wood and James Granger celebrated a significant milestone in their journey to deliver the fit-out for a unique new headquarters for YASA, a cutting-edge technology company at the forefront of electric motor innovation and development.
Beginning as a University of Oxford spin-out and now a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, YASA is using its pioneering axial flux technology to manufacture motors that are around 50% smaller and lighter than the standard radial flux electric alternatives used in most EVs today. At the same time, its motors are up to four times more torque-dense.
Delivering a bespoke innovation and R&D centre for this trailblazing company has been both an exciting and complex challenge. Spanning more than 100,000 sq ft, the new headquarters marks the first fit-out at The Ranges at Bicester Motion and incorporates office, R&D and production space.
Looking back on the journey to bring the project to life, Associate Director Tiv Kaur said:
“As a leader in EV technology, YASA needed a headquarters that reflected its own commitment to sustainability and innovation, and this vision has guided the delivery process at every stage. Meeting the technical requirements of the project while creating sustainable building systems that are truly bespoke to YASA’s operations has been an incredible achievement, made possible through continued collaboration across the entire project team.”
