The Project

The SKA (Square Kilometre Array) Organisation HQ is the central control hub for the global team tasked with remotely monitoring the operations of the Square Kilometre Array telescopes, located in Southern Africa and Western Australia. The building is located at the iconic Jodrell Bank site which contains the Grade I listed Lovell Telescope and is an active live science environment.

Equipped with a 10GB/s connection to the national research network, the building includes 18 rooms equipped with state of the art videoconferencing for teams spread across 20 time zones. The facility also includes Council Chamber which can be converted into a 160-seat auditorium for scientific conferences and public talks. The project is jointly funded by The University of Manchester, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and Cheshire East Council.

We provided project management services, as well as NEC PM and NEC Supervisor roles.
