Buro Four continue to take a pivotal role in the £337m Museum of London relocation with major appointment as Contract Administrator

Buro Four are absolutely delighted to announce that we have been appointed as Contract Administrator for the works involved in transforming a series of historic market buildings in West Smithfield to deliver a world-class home for the Museum of London.

The role was procured via OJEU and is supplementary to our appointment for the project management which will run to the opening of the Museum in 2024 and includes a number of Corporation of London projects ancillary or adjacent to the Museum of London.

The appointment comes as the Museum of London relocation was granted planning permission last week – a major step forward and a significant milestone in the overall project.

Peter Inskip, Director at Buro Four said, “Having been appointed as project manager in 2016, we have worked with the Museum of London and the design team to develop a viable and exciting Museum that was granted planning permission on 23rd June . The existing buildings provide extensive complexities given their location, condition and historic uses and with this major milestone reached, the focus now turns to the delivery of the construction phase. It has been a privilege to be part of this project from the start and we are delighted to continue to be a key part of the transformational journey”

The New Museum of London will be capable of attracting 2 million visitors through its doors every year and will have the capacity to fulfil their ambition to reach and support every London school child to enhance their learning experience.
